In France, Sunday is most certainly a day of rest. Pretty much everything that bothers to open closes by 1:30, and really the only shops that bother to open are the boulangeries (bakeries) and the cafes. And restaurants open for lunch/dinner. But if you aren't planning ahead about where to eat, you might be caught flat footed. Fortunately, we planned ahead this week, and We went out to eat at a really cute little crêperie. The food was very tasty, although we found figuring out the check-paying etiquette a tad stressful. Still, good food!
We spent the pre-dinner day wandering around the rest of Blois, had
another picnic, and sat and read for a while in a park. That's been a
fantastic element of this trip: I've finally had time to read novels!
I've gotten through 5 of them so far, which is kind of tricky because
I'm running out of books. Fortunately, Michaela and I can just trade.

Anyway, that's a lot of words for a day that was wonderfully relaxing but didn't yield too many retelling-worthy stories. Tomorrow we leave for Deauville and "la côte fleurie", which, if the weather holds, will be a wonderful beach-filled week. And if the weather doesn't hold, it'll still be a wonderful beach-filled week. We'd be wet anyways. (:
