Palais du Luxembourg

This morning we went to le Palais du Luxembourg and wandered around the really impressive gardens and grounds. It was a really beautiful morning, so it was nice to just meander around the flowerbeds in the sun. It would also be a great place to be a 5 year old, because it had one of the most fun-looking playgrounds I've seen. We also walked through the Latin quarter a bit, which is a part of Paris that I really like. It has the old city feel, in the sense that the buildings encroach on the twisty little streets and there are lots of small shops tucked away in corners. Eventually we ended up at le Jardin des Plantes, which is a really extensive botanical garden. Basically we really put Michael's allergy medicine to the test, but it seemed to pass, so we're in the clear.

So we're still learning how to effectively take photos of ourselves and whatever it was that was picturesque. So we blocked the statue I was mimicking.
There is is.

Whoops, blocked it again.

That's the senate building/palais du Luxembourg in the background with the very managed, very large trees. They of course look more impressive in person than this picture.
More statue mimicking. sort of.

There were a lot of funky statues in the gardens.

The senate building

We walked over the Pantheon. It's a very impressive building.

yup, still working on the photo angle. Pretty blue flowers!

Le jardin des plantes is a botanical garden, with all the different plants labeled. There were also these weird birds wandering around, which looked like these birds I saw in New Zealand called Pukekos, only smaller. But I have no idea what these ones are. Anyway, I liked it, so I took a picture.

Happy to be here.
