| Cardiff Bay has been an active international trading port for a really long time (think vikings), and has an interesting history to go with it. |
Today we took the train to Cardiff Bay and walked around the harbor. The waterfront was really pretty, and seems to have been re-done in anticipation of the Olympics. So lesson learned -- visiting an Olympics host country is a good idea because they've just put effort into making it visitor friendly. There was a trail that circled the entire bay -- crossing a draw bridge thing over the harbor entrance -- so we walked along there. It turned out longer than we thought... but it was really nice. We had a picnic lunch, and we're obviously both accustomed to the weather here, because we didn't even move when it started to rain while we were eating. Or maybe we were just really hungry.

| Pretty church! |
| The bay was really pretty, too! |
| Apparently the long-running TV show Dr Who is filmed in Cardiff, and they've recently opened an exhibit where you can see sets and costumes and the like. We tried going in, but the line was out the door and there weren't available tickets. Sad. |
| Another sign of the Olympics: this is an outdoor gym that Michael had to try out. It's part of the Olympics campaign to get youth involved in sports and excessive. |

| Some islands off the coast |
| Thank you kind stranger! |
| This used to house an exhibit about Captain Robert Scott, the first person to lead a land expedition to Antarctica. |
| You can tell it rained. |
| But the weather changes quickly here |
| And location matters a lot. This is just looking the other way. |
| Halfway around the bay! |
| The Marina |
| A funny sculpture: it was a giant reflective sphere, and it seemed like it was designed to be looked through (there was a hole through it with a viewing glass, but it seemed to be missing a lens. |
| And you were supposed to look through the back of the dude's head? |
| We walked all that! |
| Looking back towards the Bay waterfront |
| The Theater in Cardiff Bay... it was really pretty. |
